As the Y2K aesthetic trend shapes content online and beyond, learning how to achieve a trendy 2000s look is essential for every visual artist dealing with Millennials and Zoomers. It is just as crucial to communicate with your audience in their language as it is to create high-quality and visually appealing graphics. This way, you’ll be able to create unique projects that stand out from the crowd. Think outside of the box, listen to your inner self, and experiment until you come up with something that conveys your approach to the creative process. However, don’t try to copy ideas or expressions of those ideas. We invite you to immerse yourself in the aesthetics of the 2000s, whether through thematic imagery, Y2K fashion, or films (Legally Blonde, Jawbreaker, Euphoria) all to get inspiration and learn what works and what doesn’t. To save time, use a free automatic background removal tool to cut the subject from the photo. They are also cheaper, but need more time during post-processing. Even though it’s more expensive and time-consuming than getting a digital one, a physical background can help create the proper atmosphere on set, so both the cameraman and model will be more devoted to the end result.ĭigital backdrops provide you with greater creative freedom and flexibility. You can choose the early 2000s aesthetic backdrop in the Depositphotos library and print it. When it comes to creative backgrounds for your shoots, you have two options: get a physical backdrop or add a digital one during post-production. Whether airbrushed hearts, holographic images, or checkered patterns, together with Y2K aesthetic styling and post-processing, shots with such backgrounds will result in visuals worthy of a magazine cover or a brand campaign. The easiest way to convey 2000s aesthetics is by using a thematic photo backdrop. The style incorporates metallics, glittering, pastel colors, dreamy post-processing, translucent, and blobby designs.ĥ Ways to create Y2K-inspired photos and videos #1 Utilize a thematic photo backdrop It is mostly futuristic with a little vintage touch. The Y2K aesthetic is a blend of pop culture and technological optimism that was prevalent in the early 2000s. Here are some tips and tricks on creating Y2K-inspired photos and videos that instantly catch the eye. No worries! Whether you want to boost your social media accounts or pitch new ideas for a brand campaign, we’ve got you covered. With so many options to choose from, many faced the challenge of how to stand out. To stay on top of trends and in line with the generations’ mood, brands and content creators turned to key elements of the 2000s aesthetic: imagery in pastel colors, blobject design, creative photography or video projects with retrofuturistic vibes, shiny features, and film-like post-production. From design and fashion to music and art, universal nostalgia and tech optimism became celebrated by millions all because they were reminiscent of their happy childhood and adolescence. Still, you rarely forgot to feed your pet the free omelette you were allotted every morning.Over the last few years, Millennials and Gen Z – today’s largest generations – have brought the 2000s aesthetic to social networks and creative communication in general. Technology took on a new life with the birth of Neopets – who, with the right promotion and a bit of luck, so could have been what Pokemon became. Who was seeing who? Which teacher had a bottle of scotch in their desk drawer? Who remembers if it’s swimming or football on Thursday? This was the place where all the action happened. The novelty of building and maintaining an awful free site with limited options and xero chance of anyone but our friend finding soon wore off and the internet was littered with half finished pages promising ‘more content coming soon’.Īll school groups had their own places to meet up and chat about the community. I'm just not sure what to make of the "unreadable" error coupled with the fact that the video referenced in the same line is. I hate to clear this card off and begin using it again if the above is a sign that the card itself is bad. Most of all, I'm wondering if anybody knows, based on this output, if I have a bad card or not. First of all, install the AirDroid Personal Desktop Client on your PC and login to it. I use FolderSync to automatically sync everything when connected to wifi to my NAS. I've taken a lot of pictures and video in a short amount of time (to the tune of about 1,600 files). I tried using it to transfer the first season of The Big Bang Theory to my phone. Long story short, I have a Micro SD card in my Galaxy S4. I installed Airdroid (decided to see how it compared to Wi-Fi File Transfer). I'm at the end of the road troubleshooting this situation on my Ubuntu laptop, and I'm questioning if what I'm seeing here on Ubuntu is somewhat conclusive to whether the Micro SD card is good, bad, or somewhere in between. Steveįiled Under: Transcriptions Tagged With: 10mFan, David Mann, funky solo, Robusto, sax mouthpiece, tenor saxophone About Steve Thanks again to John Blevins who transcribed this one. Mark is a great guy to deal with and can steer you in the right direction. If you are interested in the Robusto mouthpiece you can contact Mark Sepinuck on his website at. The mouthpiece doesn’t sound thin or too edgy at all to my ears but perfect when Dave is playing it………. It’s the perfect blend of a full fat tenor sound mixed with some edge and brightness to give a modern sound to his tone. I think he sounds amazing on this mouthpiece. Any support is appreciated and will go towards keeping this site running, saxophone reeds, mouthpiece patches, coffee, and towards justifying the many hours I spend on providing free transcriptions to the saxophone community! Thanks, Steveĭavid Mann is using the 10mFan Robusto hard rubber tenor mouthpiece on this clip. *If you would like to support me here at, you can do so on the support page of my store by debit or credit card. Movie credits include “Lucky Numbers,” “Any Given Sunday,” “Shaft 2,” “The Mask” and “Scrooged.” David has performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops and the National Symphony and has toured extensively throughout the world. He also can be heard on many TV themes and jingles, including those for Monday Night Football, ABC News Nightline, NBA on TBS, The Early Show with Bryant Gumbel, Later Today, 20/20, 48 Hours and Super Bowl XXIV on ABC. In 2001 alone, David scored two #1 NAC singles (with Wayman Tisdale and Steve Cole).ĭavid has performed and recorded with many of the biggest names in music, including Tower of Power (1993-1996), James Taylor, Paul Simon, Michael Jackson, Gil Evans, Pat Metheny, Sting, Madonna, Chaka Khan, George Michael, Billy Joel, Lyle Lovett, Bob James, Linda Eder, Liza Minnelli, Patti Austin, Ivan Lins, Michael McDonald, Alicia Keys, Vanessa Williams, Bette Midler, Michael Bolton, Chieli Minucci, Luther Vandross, BB King, Phish, Spyro Gyra, Sergio Mendes, Bobby McFerrin, Leni Stern, Elements, Miles Evans Orchestra, Ricky Martin, Chuck Loeb, Special EFX, Donnie and Marie Osmond, Al Jarraeu, Rob Mathes, Club 1600, Whitney Houston and George Russell. Along with working on his own albums, David has become an increasingly accomplished composer and producer, working with such artists as Wayman Tisdale, Nelson Rangell, Steve Cole, Kim Waters, Point of Grace, and Rachel Z. Named “one of the best albums of the year” and “debut artist of the year” by Jazztrax, “Touch” finds David in fine company, teaming up with Bob James, Chris Botti, Chuck Loeb and Chieli Minuchi. In 2001, David released “Touch” on N-Coded Music, which showcased his full range of abilities as a composer, producer, programmer, and of course as a saxophonist. Along with his brother, bassist Ned Mann, came the 1993 release of The Mann Brothers “Mann to Mann” on DMP Records. Here’s a short bio of Dave that I found on the internet:įresh out of the New England Conservatory of Music and new on the New York scene, David launched his solo career in the formative days of contemporary Jazz with the popular “Games” (1987) and “Insight” (1989) on the Island/Antilles label. He’s braver than I am to tackle the cadenza at the end of this solo……….Thanks for transcribing this John! John Blevins did all the hard work of transcribing this one. Here’s another great David Mann transcription that was sent to me from Mark Sepinuck. Go with one of the above mentioned tunes. Your ideology is correct that you want to find out whats the max you can run on stock components but you're neglecting the safety factor. For Example, In my tuned 135i I can run 15-16.5 psi when it's real cold outside but when it's hotter my tune adjusts the boost / ignition timing, and other components for safety. Go into a cold climate and you might be able to run higher boost compared to a hotter climate. Yeah but with turbocharged cars the settings change all the time. (Now, if the factory ECU cuts boost increase electronically at a set point, then thats another matter and that cut point would be the max boost allowable without further modification) Find the max allowable boost according to AFR /lean/rich and bam, you have your max boost settings, if you use a dual stage boost controller, one set there for fun times, the other stage is set to stock for DD. The ONLY thing you need to be aware of is AFR, point blank. You dont need to monitor fuel curves, timing or any of that bullshit just to increase boost some. What do you think tuning is, experimentation. It doesnt change because the engine has a different maker. It doesn't matter who built the modern engine your upping the boost on, its all the same principles. Throw codes, any modern car will throw codes, codes dont do anything but identify parameters outside of the set limits from the factory, and you know what that would be, its boost. Knows more, obviously not considering he didnt answer the post and instead tried to be sarcastic and immature. Without considering all the elements of the foundation, the building is bound to fail. Without all of those components raising engine boost is like building a 5 story building on a foundation meant for a single story. He knows much more than you based on the question you asked. To say its meaningless is to negate the last 50 years of automotive tuning.ĭon't insult him like that. Its basic graduation when trying to increase power over stock. Limitations of stock motors for decades have been found by gradually and steadily increasing the the psi and figuring out where the peak stress point is at. Its a simple question that obviously you have neither the knowledge nor inclination to answer in an educated manner, so please refrain from picking an argument and post in the off topic section if you want to continue in that fashion. To people that are clueless about what the engine can safely attain with out any other mods and/or have no desire to, maybe. Here are some products you should look into So make it simple for yourself and either get a Piggyback tune or a flash! You have a warranty, If codes are thrown and you don't know how to cope with them your warranty will be void. We don't drive EVO's or STI's where we can just get a manual boost controller Our cars are sensitive and throw codes if we did things like that. You can't just up the boost, without monitoring fuel, timing, engine knock etc. The manufacturers of both have done research about safely tuning the engine. Glad I could help shed some light if you didnt already know.ĭon't try to experiment on your car. Which, as we all know from the first time we started tuning turbo engines - is a ways away from the set stock standards. All it takes is to not care about emissions, keeping the performance on par with every other motor produced on the assembly line, and accept a tad more risk with increased internal pressure and heat. Its just about understood as overall fact that stock engines with boost built in are significantly detuned from their max overall capability for homogenization/safety/emissions standards. Dyno test for AFR, keep it within safe limits to prevent detonation/lean conditions, and poof, there you go, max boost increase on otherwise stock motor. Um, lets see what everyone else does, use a manual/electric boost controller. To stop the freshclam, simply follow the terminal command. To install the ClamAV signature database in your Ubuntu, you need to stop your running ClamAV in your machine. Moreover, the ClamAV signature database also allows users to use ClamAV in offline. When any update comes for ClamAV, the corresponding files are also updated inside the ClamAV signature database. ClamAV Antivirus signature database keeps unwanted users away from your Ubuntu system. Only you can get access to your ClamAV signature database from your Ubuntu system. In Ubuntu, the ClamAV signature database is the special database for your ClamAV antivirus, where all the local software, log files, and system files kept safely. Step 3: Update the ClamAV Signature Database Automatically If you are a Linux system administrator, and if you think that something wrong is happening inside your Linux server or filesystem, you can also install ClamAV on your website C-panel. ClamAV only runs when the system administrator asks it for any particular job. But like Windows antiviruses, the Ubuntu antiviruses don’t always run in the system background. So far, you’ve successfully installed ClamAV Antivirus in your Ubuntu system. $ sudo apt-get install clamav clamav-daemon You can also check the version of your ClamAV by using the following command in the terminal. For installing ClamAV in the background process, I’m adding a daemon with the terminal command. All you need is to run an apt install command in your system terminal. Installing ClamAV Antivirus in your Ubuntu is very simple. $ sudo apt update Step 2: Installing ClamAV in Ubuntu For now, I will be using the Advanced Package Tool apt command in the terminal to get updated. Let’s update our Ubuntu machine later, when the file repository will be updated, we will initialize the process of installing ClamAV. Be mindful that before installing any software in Ubuntu, you should keep your Ubuntu repository up to date. Here I’m going to start the method of installing ClamAV Antivirus in Ubuntu. Install of ClamAV Antivirus in Ubuntu LinuxĬlamAV claims that it can be installed in all Debian distributions of the Linux like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Debian OS, etc. In this blog post, we will see how to install and use the ClamAV Antivirus in any Ubuntu machine. ClamAV can also defend the local attacks delivered by ethical or unethical hackers. ClamAV can scan, find, and remove all infected files and software from your Ubuntu machine. And for Ubuntu, no other antiviruses can be as effective and powerful as ClamAV. To protect your Ubuntu system or database from hackers, it’s a wise decision to have an antivirus. Ubuntu, the leading Linux operating system in the world, runs a vast amount of file servers, where there is a huge chance to get malicious emails or malicious SQL injection form evil users. Mostly, Linux viruses are trojan and malicious files. If you have to deal with public domains or third party databases, there is a chance that your Linux system can get infected with the virus. And no doubt, ClamAV Antivirus is the finest and most used antivirus for the Ubuntu system. For security purposes, Ubuntu often needed to be checked up It’s good to maintain a healthy operating system without having any virus attack. If your system is connected with the internet, there are thousands of ways you can carry the virus in your Ubuntu system. But, this notion is not valid in some cases. Of course, you will be cynical if I say instead of being a modern Ubuntu user, sometimes you might need an antivirus as we all know that Linux is always unsinkable in the sea of the virus. ClamAV is one of the best-recommended antiviruses for Ubuntu. Out of the box, the only issues we’ve identified are the befuddling Manitou fork axle, which takes the humble thru-axle to a perplexing level of complexity, and the non-lock-on Bontrager Race grips, which feel very squirmy underhand. It’s odd to see a Trek bike specced without Bontrager rims, so we’re interested to see how the SUNringle rims perform. Sram’s Level Trail brakes have excellent ergonomics and are a good fit for the Stache. Trek have specced the Stache with SUNringle DUROC rims- we’re interested to see how they perform throughout the review. The Bontrager Chupacabra tyres have a tread pattern that sits somewhere between a Bontrager XR2 and XR3, and are a good fit out of the box for the Stache. The aluminium Stache 7 retails for $3299, and includes a Manitou Magnum fork with 34mm stanchions and 120mm of travel, a Sram groupset consisting of 1×11 GX gearing and Level Trail brakes and most of the finishing kit is handled by Bontrager. 29+ wheels means the 3″ tyres are meatier than the barbeque on Australia Day. Tyre pressure setup on the Stache is more critical than for most other bikes, so we’ve been experimenting with different setups to get the best combination of traction, tyre stability and rolling efficiency. The huge contact patch of the tyres, which can be run at very low pressures when setup tubeless (the Stache ships with rim tape installed as well as tubeless valves) gives insane cornering grip as well as small bump sensitivity to compensate somewhat for the rigid rear end. What advantages do the 29+ wheels provide? The Stranglehold Dropout’s elevated chainstay features a protective layer to protect the chainstay from the chain slap. Tensioners for singlespeed setup as well as chainstay length adjustment allows for multiple wheel sizes and gearing options. Yes! The Stache’s ‘Stranglehold’ dropouts allow for the bike to be configured in 29+, 27.5+, regular 29”, and even as a singlespeed!ĭespite the Stache being more open to change that Donald Trump’s policies, we would definitely recommend giving the Stache a good crack in its original 29+ guise, as the benefits of the 29+ tyres are really what make this bike shine. Is there an option to swap wheel sizes if I don’t like the 29+ wheels? The Bontrager Chupacabra tyres are named after the legendary Latin American goat-slayer, and hold the key to slaying trails aboard the Stache. Is this even possible? Could Trek be onto something here? Stay tuned for the review where we’ll discuss this further. These attributes mean that the riding style required to get the most out of the Stache is different to how you would ride a standard dual-suspension trail bike. The Stache’s strengths include insane levels of traction and a geometry aimed at being able to throw those big hoops around at will. This is a question we’ll answer more in-depth in the review, however, what we’ve learned in our time on the Stache so far is that asking if the bike replicates the abilities of a dual suspension trail bike is not the right question to be asking. Talbot, Preventing over-fitting in model selection via Bayesian regularisation of the hyper-parameters, Journal of Machine Learning Research, volume 8, pages 841-861, April 2007. Which demonstrates that over-fitting in model selection is a substantial problem in machine learning (and you can get severely biased performance estimates if you cut corners in model selection during performance evaluation) and Talbot, Over-fitting in model selection and subsequent selection bias in performance evaluation, Journal of Machine Learning Research, 2010. In my view, this appears not to be widely appreciated, but is a substantial pitfall in the application of machine learning methods, and is the main focus of my current research I have written two papers on the subject so far There is a definitive answer to this question which is "yes, it is certainly possible to overfit a cross-validation based model selection criterion and end up with a model that generalises poorly!". Obviously there is a large computational cost associated with doing many many iterations to squeeze every last bit of predictive power out of a model, so clearly this is something you would do if you've got the time/grunt to do the optimisation and every bit of performance improvement is valuable. I just don't hear any talk about this, so it makes me wonder if there is something I'm missing. I might find by re-sampling that the best number of trees to grow in a GBM for this data set is 647 with an interaction depth of 4, but how sure can I be that this will be true of new data (assuming the new population is identical to the training set)? With no reasonable value to 'shrink' to (or if you will, no informative prior information) re-sampling seems like the best we can do. What bothers me is the lack of regularisation. Maybe the question was badly asked, but perhaps the question itself represents a bad approach that people generally do not do? My question is, can you go too far here? People talk about doing grid searches as so forth, but why not simply treat this as an optimisation problem and drill down to the best possible set of parameters? I asked about some mechanics of this in this question, but it hasn't received much attention. This is generally done with some kind of re-sampling technique (bootstrap, CV etc) in order to fit the set of parameters that give the best generalisation error. Machine learning algorithms, such as SVM, GBM, Random Forest etc, generally have some free parameters that, beyond some rule of thumb guidance, need to be tuned to each data set. This question may well be too open-ended to get a definitive answer, but hopefully not. |
